“Gripped byy the Greatness of God”

This is the title of the new study that we will begin. ALL LADIES are invited to join the women’s ministry as they begin this study by James McDonald. They will meet in room 202 at 6pm on Wednesdays beginning January 11th.

Week 2  Gripped by the Holiness of God.  1 Peter 1:16  “It is written, ‘You shall be Holy, For I am Holy.”  Holiness means separateness, sacredness, set-apartness.  Is that you and/or me?   Do we display holiness in our daily lives? Do we strive daily to take on God’s character,  or do we favor the world more?  The following statements are taken from week 2.  “Holiness is character before it is ever conduct.  It is the very nature of God reproduced in the heart of man;  God displays holiness as the central and defining essence of His character.

Week 3  Gripped By the Awesomeness of God.  Deuteronomy 10:17 “The Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God.”  James MacDonald says this “There are…two sides of awesome.  One side is fearful, dreadful, scary, even terrifying.  Hebrews 10:31 says it right.  ‘It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God.’  …when you are gripped by God’s greatness, His awesomeness runs like a river of joy through the very center of your being…God’s awesomeness takes you to your knees in total reverence, to worship without self-consciousness and to walk in glad surrender.”  I would encourage you to read Isaiah 40:10-31.  God is absolutely amazing and beyond our comprehension.

Week  Gripped By the Sovereignty of God.  Romans 8:28 “We know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purposes.” ” Sovereign is defined as independent from external control which includes the idea of supreme authority and power.”  We cannot fully understand the Sovereign nature of God.  In this life, we are learning to trust that in all situations Romans 8:28 is an abiding truth.  Whether in events in our world, or struggles in our personal lives, God is bringing about His purposes.  His purposes, His plans began before the foundation of the world.  He already knew the choices we would make and has never been swayed or detoured from His purposes because of our choices.  Why?  Because He is Sovereign!  Check out God’s sovereinty in Isaiah 45: 1-13.
